AD UPSETS CITY COUNCILS
Some members of city council are upset with an advertising campaign being
used by the District Health Unit and Tobacco Free Thunder Bay to bring about
a city-wide smoking ban.
This latest ad features an informal poll of council members which supposedly
shows their opinion on the smoking ban and their home phone phone numbers.
Some councillors say the survey results are untrue.
Councillor Lawrence Timko who sat on the smoke free by-law committe says
they never authorized a public lobbying campaign aimed at council members.
A special council meeting on the proposed smoke-free by-law goes next
Tuesday night at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition Colisiseum building.
